Electrical, Lighting & Smart Home Services
Fixtures hung, fans balanced, detectors current, and your smart home actually talking to itself — small electrical work done carefully and to code.
Small Electrical, Done Seriously
Swapping a fixture looks simple until you're on a ladder holding forty pounds of chandelier over a stairwell, or the 'two wires' in the box turn out to be six from 1962. We do handyman-scale electrical the careful way: power verified dead, connections properly made, boxes rated for the load, and everything tested before we pack up.
That includes the modern layer, too — video doorbells, smart thermostats, smart locks, cameras, and lighting scenes. We install the hardware, connect it to your Wi-Fi, and don't leave until the app on your phone actually works. And like plumbing, we know the line: panel work, new circuits, and service upgrades go to a licensed electrician, and we'll tell you so on the spot.

Detectors Aren't Optional Up Here
Heating season in the Northland runs seven months, and that's when CO risk peaks — furnaces, fireplaces, attached garages, and snow-blocked vents. Minnesota and Wisconsin both require CO alarms near sleeping areas. We install and date fresh units, place them where code and physics agree, and take the dead ones with us.
Electrical & Lighting Questions
What electrical work won't you do?
Panel and service work, new circuits, knob-and-tube remediation, and anything requiring an electrical permit — that's licensed-electrician territory. We handle like-for-like fixture, switch, outlet, fan, and detector work, and we're honest about the boundary the moment we see your job.
Can you put a ceiling fan where a light is now?
Usually, yes. The critical detail is the ceiling box — fans need a fan-rated box, not a standard light box. We check it every time and install the proper brace box if needed. That's the step DIY installs skip, and it's why DIY fans wobble.
My smart devices never stay connected. Can you help?
This is half our smart-home work: fixing installs, not starting them. Weak Wi-Fi at the device, wrong-band connections, and unfinished app setup cause most of it. We'll get the system stable and show you how it works before we leave.
